The state championship game scheduled for March 14th between the Titan boys varsity basketball team and the West Memphis Blue Devils has been postponed until further notice due concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Arkansas Activities Association released a statement on March 12, 2020 stating the following ” due to growing concerns over COVID-19 virus, following the conclusion of tonight’s games, the remainder of the AAA basketball finals are postponed until further notice”. This came hours after they released a statement confirming that the games were still on.
“A lot of hearts were broken by this news,” Senior Jaylen Taylor said, “especially those of the senior basketball players, who have never played in a state championship game or even made it this far.”
Many players still have hope and believe that the game will be rescheduled, according to Taylor, although he admits, “The odds are not looking to favor this decision.”
Whatever the final decision may be, JHS administrators and staff expressed they will always be proud of this years Jacksonville Titans basketball teams.
