JHS Presents: Frumpled Fairy Tales

Ghost Writer

Come one, come all! The Jacksonville High School Theatre Department is putting on a new performance!

Frumpled Fairy Tales puts a hilarious spin on 3 fairy tale classics: Rumplestilskin, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood. Puns and pratfalls abound in this fun, frumpled 35-minute version of these three Grimm Fairy Tales. With the help of the narrator, the audience can cheer the heroes and boo the villains.

Come see timeless fairy tales in a new way. The stories may be old, but you’ve never seen them like this.”

— Director Sam Stroud

In Rapunzel, a greedy king, a miller’s daughter and a comical chap named Rumplestilskin all mix together in the story of fold spinning and name guessing. In Rapunzel, a witch puts lovely Rapunzel in a tower where a handsome prince rescues her. but the standard happy ending is reached in anything but a standard way. In Red Riding Hood, Little Red finally escapes the long-winded warnings of her mother only to meet up with a cool wolf. Entertaining, enchanting and highly adaptable.

Packed with witty humor, this production is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. The cast and crew have been working hard since mid-January to learn their lines, perfect their performance and build an awesome set.

The show will run from April 11-12. Showtimes on April 11 are at 2 p.m. Showtimes on April 12 are at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $4 for students, $5 for adults, and children ages 4 and under are free.
