The Jacksonville Titans, both boys and girls, Varsity basketball teams beat the Pine Bluff Zebras on January 14 in the first game of Conference play.

The games were delayed due to a few leaks in the Zebras’ home gym, and the game had to be moved to a different gym in Pine Bluff.

The girls game began at around 6:45, which is late compared to their routine 5:00 start, but the Lady Titans came out on top scoring first off of the jump ball and never looking back. The Zebras hung in there for a while before the Lady Titans began to pull away and went on to win 52-27.

The boys game began shortly after the girls’ game ended with the tip off at about 8:30pm. The Titans grabbed the jump ball and scored on the first play to take a 2-0 lead against the Zebras, but the zebras responded with a few buckets to go up 6-7. The Titans then got a steal and dunked the ball, gaining both momentum and the lead.

The Titans held on to that lead for the rest of the game, leading by as much as 24 points against the Zebras at one point. The Zebras rallied at the end of the game, closing the score gap to 9 points, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Titan boys who went on to win win 68-56.
